Bangladesh Cricket Board is trying to ensure that at least half of the country's population attends Afghanistan's upcoming tour to Bangladesh. Three One Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals are part of the tour. The three
ODIs will all be played in Chattogram, and however, the two T20Is will be played in Mirpur.
The BCB was previously prepared to hold full-capacity crowds during the just-finished Bangladesh Premier League but were forced to change their plans due to the Omicron variation.
Even though fans were eventually permitted inside the stadium for the playoffs and finals, attendance was limited to three to four thousand people. However, ahead of the Afghanistan series, the BCB talks with relevant authorities to get a minimum occupancy of 50%.
Since COVID started in 2019, many international series and domestic T20 competitions have been held behind closed doors. However, with the positive global rate on the fall and the introduction of vaccinations, numerous countries have begun to keep matches with only a small crowd, with a few even allowing full houses. Major competitions like the IPL and World T20, for example, drew large crowds last year, albeit in a limited capacity.
The trip of Bangladesh and Afghanistan begins on February 23rd with the first ODI, followed by a T20I series that will kickstart both sides' preparations for the World T20, which will be hosted in Australia at the end of the year.
